In collaboration with the internal electronics team, we have developed a fully functional pre-series prototype for feldfühler, which will add another IoT product for agriculture to the feldfühler product portfolio in the future.
feldfühler has set itself the task of manufacturing easy-to-install sensors for professional agriculture, which provide farmers with information about the local microclimate in their fields and enable smart, automated, and resource-saving irrigation.

Product design
Due to the high demands in terms of functionality and simplicity of the system, we were able to present the customer with several preliminary designs as options, discuss the pros and cons together, and unanimously select a concept that would achieve the desired goal. In addition to the design language of the product, great consideration was also given to functionality and resistance to natural influences at the place of use. Particular attention was paid to protection against possible martens bites.
Prototype construction
In order to give the feldfühler team the best possible feel for the product dimensions, the concept to be pursued was schematically recreated in cardboard so that it could then be manufactured in stainless steel for the prototype. In less than a week, initial installation tests could be carried out with the product and further assumptions from the development phase could be confirmed and optimized.
Product development
During product development, the entire product life cycle was analyzed, with particular attention paid to usability for the target customers and the area of application. Early assessment of the key risk factors made it possible to achieve optimal implementation for the application through constructive solutions.
Production management
Thanks to our extensive network of manufacturers, we were able to work with feldfühler to find suitable partners for timely delivery and provide all the necessary components for assembly in the shortest possible time.
3D design
From the outset, development was supported by CAD design. The entire product was modeled as a digital twin in order to anticipate and communicate geometric factors and to generate production data.
Visualization
In order to present the product in the best possible light for its online launch, initial renderings were created for the product presentation. This enabled feldfühler to integrate and present the new product in information brochures and trade fair materials even before it was finally completed.
